- An Achievement in Business Competencies (Blue Seal) Certificate is evidence that a certified tradesperson:
- meets Alberta’s high industry standards, and
- has continued a path towards business education and acquired competencies and demonstrated drive to succeed in managerial, supervisory, entrepreneurial or other leadership roles.
Eligibility
- You may be eligible for an Achievement in Business Competencies (Blue Seal) Certificate if you:
- have completed at least 150 hours of study though any combination of:
- approved programs of study and/or programs of study
- courses in one or more of the 18 approved subject areas through a recognized training provider, approved subject areas · recognized training provider
- andhold:
- an Alberta Journeyperson Certificate, or
- an Alberta Occupational Certificate, or
- a credential recognized in Alberta, credential recognized in Alberta
- andhave, or have applied for, an Alberta Student Number (ASN).

To apply:
- There is a $150.00 non-refundable application fee.
- Note: Apprenticeship and Industry Training may contact the training provider to confirm your information.
- Achievement in Business Competencies (Blue Seal) Program Policy (AIT Operational Policy Manual)
- Log in to your MyTradesecrets account. MyTradesecrets account
- Complete and submit the online Achievement in Business Competencies (Blue Seal) Application.
- During the application process, attach a copy of your transcripts and supporting documentation clearly indicating:
- name of the applicant,
- name of the recognized training provider, recognized training provider
- the approved subject area(s)/course name, and approved subject area(s)/course
- the hours of study you have completed.
