What is an Authorization?
- In Alberta, restricted activities within a designated trade may only be performed by individuals who meet specific regulated requirements, such as being a registered apprentice or certified tradesperson.

What Does an Authorization Include?
- Each Authorization outlines specific requirements and conditions that must be followed. These often include:
- limitations on which tasks may be performed
- training requirements for authorized individuals
- documentation that must be maintained
- a defined time period (Authorizations are temporary and expire)
- employers to maintain a list of employees working under the Authorization
- regular reviews or renewals before expiry

- Expired and discontinued Class Authorizations and associated Letters of Discontinuation remain published on this page for a minimum of 12 months following the discontinuation decision.
