Overhead door technicians install, service, repair and conduct preventative maintenance on residential and commercial overhead sectional doors, coiling doors, coiling and sliding steel fire doors, electric operating devices for these doors, dock levelers, electric gate openers, and access control devices for residential, commercial and industrial sites. - A minimum of 18 months AND 1,500 hours of work experience.
- An Employer Assessment of Competency Form.
- A successful theory exam.
- Recognized Training
- The requirements for an Overhead Door Technician – Level 1 are:
- A minimum of 12 months AND 1,000 hours of work experience.
- Successful completion and verification of Canadian Door Institution Level 1 course or equivalent (certificate issued after Jan 1/15).
- A successful theory exam.
